It never fails.
You’re riding on
rails
sailing down the road
in a trail of dust
that you must be
breaking the sound
barrier -
a miles harrier. Then
you see it.
Could it be what you’re
thinking?
Your eyes start
blinking and it sinks in.
There’s an ass on the
road. There’s ALWAYS
an ass on the road.
Idiots come up quickly behind you
to sickly remind you
that you’re in the way.
But an ass on the
road makes you frown,
they’re only there to
slow you down.
It never fails. It’ll
haw and bray and hold you up
all day. There’s
always an ass on the road.

Thanks Stacy Lynn. It was a perfect photo prompt all on its own. George Carlin did that routine of the "ass and the idiot". It holds truth!
DeleteHa ha ha! Yes, there always is, Jeep. Love the repetition in this. Thanks for joining in.
ReplyDeletePamela
Thanks for the kick in the...donkey, Pamela!
DeleteIt was an interesting photo, Pamela. An that image just triggered something... apparently! ;) Thanks for having me.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the traffic chaos
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does, Vandana! Thanks for stopping.
DeleteGood one! Give me the four-legged kind any day! Probably would make better drivers too. ;<)
ReplyDeleteFrankie Laine's "Mule Train" rings in the background! You are so correct!
DeleteI love this! Made me smile. I suspect I am the ass on the road in my town, as my little blue beater clunks and rattles its way along, my Dreaded Gray Hair above the steering wheel, to drive those behind me mad with the urge to run right over me. Hee hee.
ReplyDelete;) Smiles from here to the next road stop, Sherry!

ReplyDeleteProverbial or otherwise, an ass is an ass!
DeleteI've encountered some asses on my road of life lately. Thank you for the laugh. Aside from your clever and wonderful use of rhyme, there are the three definitions of the word "ass" to consider.
