Leaving For the Fall

Held aloft
for a reason,
                     a season...
  a lifetime becomes shorter
the longer the days d
         e

      l
        i
                        n
                          e,

Winds adjudicate and extricate the greenery
which litter the scenery with browns and orange,
crimson,
yellow... so many left to fend
for in the end
leaves become languid and bitter.

Tossed about in flutters and wafts,
this once upon a greenery...

They litter the scenery.

    1. The decline of the letters fall differently on three different computers, I'm not crazy about those results, but the message came together nicely. Thanks for joining the Autumn party!

  2. I like the colors of autumn...crimson yellow, orange - and meaning you have attached to them, languid, bitter, littering the scenery ~

    1. Bitter in that their beauty lasts for a brief moment and then fall to earth to decay. The scatter or litter is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose! Thanks for the visit Grace!

  3. You have evoked the fall feeling wonderfully in your poem, Jeep. Leaves definitely do litter the scenery at this time of the year. Smiles.

    1. Fall is the perfect pseudonym for the Autumn season. Hints of Roger Williams playing Autumn Leaves in the soundtrack of the season, for sure. I always appreciate your support, Mary!

  6. Great wordplay here, and loved your formatting of "decline." I'm not nearly that clever!

Also enjoyed the thought of autumn leaves as, well, garbage, or litter. Like the castoff regrets of trees, newly resplendent in their shameless nudity! Amy

    1. Geez, even your comments wax poetic! Trees in their shameless nudity? Kilmer just went to take a cold shower! Thanks Amy!

  7. Skillfully written, Joseph. I love the idea of the winds adjudicating greenery. They are showing their power here today.

I would appreciate feedback on my work. If we don't learn, we'll never grow.
